A “Revolution Manifesto” – Tribes, Musicians, and Networks

I’m so glad to know that there are others out there that feel the same way we do over at Mybandstock. We feel it’s the greatest time to be a musician right now. You can own more of your own content, have more control, and reach more people than ever before. Sure, selling records isn’t easy anymore, but thats why you play concerts and sell tshirts, posters, and stock!

“My big, heart-felt challenge to all aspiring independent, DIY artists of today is to fully understand that the old music industry model is broken. Stop working within the old model today. Reevaluate your goals and objectives and the processes you use to reach them. Throw all of that away and start with a blank piece of paper. Too many people are clinging to old methods, processing, and ways – unsure, disillusioned, or afraid to move on to something new. The sooner we can move on, CHANGE, embrace reality, and keep a positive attitude moving forward (into the unknown), the sooner we will find a solution and ultimately succeed.”

Talking ’bout a Revolution

Change is good. But don’t fix what isn’t broken… like concerts, tshirts, stickers, and using Myspace. Selling records to get bye IS broken, so what are you doing?

Give a lot of your music away.  It is your best marketing tool, whether you are ready to embrace this or not.
